About Us

On December 13, 1953, thirty-five individuals met at Belmont for the first time. The Northridge congregation assisted in purchasing the house north of the old auditorium as a meeting place until renting the Belmont Elementary School auditorium became necessary. S.P. Lowry served as minister from December 1953, until March 1958 and the membership grew to two hundred. The first church building was completed in 1956 through hard work and long hours sacrificed by many in the church family.

Over the course of the last half of the twentieth century the congregation has enjoyed the blessings of God. Over this time there have been seven ministers and six elders and many deacons and ministry leaders. The Lord has used this church family to reach out to this community in various ways as well as many mission works in many parts of the world. The church has seen the adversity that the enemy brings and has stood the test of time and has experienced the vindication of the Lord. Highs and lows, successes and failures, have all been a part of the Belmont journey, and God has never forsaken His people.

Our recent history includes many such blessings. On January 5, 1997, Carpenter's Kids was born. This children's worship program has been and continues to be a wonderful source of teaching and motivation for our younger children. An outgrowth of this has been K.A.B.O.O.M. It stands for Kids Are Blessings Of Our Master. K.A.B.O.O.M. was born on February 4. 2000. This monthly fellowship for children has grown and inspired many of our youth. Another blessing of our Lord was Jesus Is The Answer! This radio program was born on August 4, 1997 and was heard each Sunday morning for 30 minutes. Ongoing ministries that have a special place in the heart of Belmont include our involvement in Belmont Days, a community parade and celebration each summer. Also, involvement and service at Northwestern Ohio Christian Youth Camp has been a delight and a blessing each summer.

Our purpose is nothing other than the purpose that God has for His church. Our purpose is to worship our Creator with all of our being, to live daily for Him, and to share the good news of the salvation that comes only through Jesus, His Son! With God, all things are possible, and He holds us in His hand. There is no better place to be!
